I'm starting to research dog day care for when we visit my family in Oregon at Christmas. Having to limit excursions to less than 5 hours or dog-friendly ones does sometimes hinder us, so I thought maybe R&B could go to daycare one or two days during the time we're there.

I did a quick google search and found that Portland is crawling with daycares.

Any one know of good ones? Bella does really well at day care if the staff knows how to match up dogs. Thousand Hills always makes sure she is with dogs who don't buy into her bitchy behavior. As long as the other dog just kind of goes "whatever" to her initial bullying, she can calm down and really play.

Ideally, they'd be near Canby or Tigard, but we'll take anywhere in the Portland area.

I found an awesome place: Double Dog Ranch, but they're totally booked. frown

I can ask my daycare if they can recommend any places down there - mine is great about separating dogs into groups and different rooms according to play style.

*Bumpity bump*

I inquired but they didn't know of any to recommend - sorry Jen!

Have you tried looking on yelp.com in the Portland area? At least you could read some personal reviews . . . . good luck!

Thanks! I got your pm with good info! And I will check out yelp.com If you hear anything, cjs, I'd be interested, but no pressure. smile

So now I just have to contact a couple places and see how they do temperament testing. If they put Bella in an "airlock" and wait for the other dogs to settle down before introducing her off-leash, she's good. If they have her on leash and bring other leashed dogs to meet her, it'll be a no go. So, we'll see.
